Photography. Another form of creativity that’s way more deeper than just taking beautiful pictures. The classic saying goes “A picture is worth a thousand words” so what type of conversations do you have when you see a beautiful picture? What type of conversations are the photographer trying to have with you and tell you? Take it from a Bronx native photographer himself, Harold Demoya. Harold’s photography to him means opening up doors to a whole wide range of worldly things and capturing moments of nature that help inspire him to tell a story behind the lens. He says, “My craft consists of the field of visual/creative arts and productions. What inspired me to pursue photography was being able to tell a story and capture it through your own lens. Photography for me opened many doors and avenues, in which I didn’t know was possible before. It was the only passion there for me. I don’t know where I would be today if it wasn’t for my passion in being a professional photographer. I don’t know if I would have the same group of creators I’ve met down the road. In which I’m thankful I’ve crossed paths with some. My influences that impacted my work the most I feel is natural everyday things. You would normally see or walk by. I’m influenced by my environment and what surrounds it.” Harold’s creativity and its purpose perfectly fits the main purpose here at BLK MTTR APRL. He continues, “What made me participate in this project I feel was the correlation between the light we have within ourselves coming out of a dark place that’s been hidden for way too long. I felt that it resonates with myself and so many other artists who have similar experiences and a story to tell but just haven’t had the opportunity for their light to be showcased in a way that can inspire and motivate others to share what’s been kept in.” Beautifully said. Similar experiences creates an environment for people to know that they’re not alone in whatever they are personally going through and not be afraid to share it with the world so that they can grow and are still beautiful no matter what. Lastly, Harold says, “What I would like to impart to the public is to do what you love and share it to the world to get others inspired.” Inspiration goes a long way. All it takes is for one source of inspiration to motivate a person to step forward and into their greatness. Harold is most definitely an example of someone whose using his light. Authentically and honestly. Definitely a shining star with a purpose. View Harold's work on our landing page via Instagram.
